The Private 8mm Reels 1975-1982
Length: 2 hours. The footage on this compilation is nearly all that exists from that period. As filming during concerts in the 70ies wasn't strictly forbidden, there were fans who recorded some clips for private uses. |
|
Some of the footage is a few generations old, but it's very tough finding all of these clips! There's no original sound, but many of the tapes have some tunes dubbed in from bootleg albums, etc. The overall quality of the video-transfer of these reels is very good. But I would say that this stuff is for die-hard fans only, as you can't compare the quality to a professional filming. This is what you get on one tape:
* The infamous "Gun" Tapes - filmed during the Love Gun Tour 1977 in Vancouver (July 24th), Seattle (August 12th) and Los Angeles (recording of ALIVE II on August 25th). It has sound dubbed in from the ALIVE II album to give it the appearance of the real sound! It was filmed from the front row and has great close-ups. The songs: I Stole Your Love, Take Me, Ladies Room, Christine 16, Firehouse, Love Gun, Rock N Roll All Nite, Beth, Shout it Out Loud, Christine 16, Shock Me, Dr. Love, Rock And Roll All Nite, God of Thunder. * Some clips shot from the back of the arena from the Love Gun Tour 1977 at an unknown location. Watch fans gathering in front of the stage before the show and roadies setting up the stage. * Two films from the ALIVE! Tour 1975: The first set has a great clip of Gene's hair catching fire! * Footage from Eric Carr's first show on July 25th 1980 at New York's Palladium. This was the warm-up show for the upcoming "Unmasked" tour - the only concert they played in the United States in 1980! * Two reels from the 1979 Dynasty Tour: The first includes all the highlights, second is from Chicago (November 30th) and has real sound!! * Footage from the "Sneak Attack Tour 1977" from an unknown location - shot from the back of the arena with real sound and the great Black Diamond showdown! * Some footage of the "Creatures Of The Night" Tour 1982 from Detroit, MI. * More "Love Gun Tour 1977" footage from Buffalo NY. Filmed from high above with a cool camera perspective - great color and picture. * Some more ALIVE! 1975 footage from Waterbury, CT and Springfield, CT. * The last reel comes with footage from the 1976 "Destroyer Tour" from an unknown location with a great stage set-up. |

KISS IN ATTACK OF THE PHANTOMS 1978
Length: 94 min. The classic movie as it was aired on US-TV in 1978 with weird TV-soundtrack. |

KISS VON PHANTOMEN GEJAGT 1980
Length 94 min. German version! The movie was released in Europe for movie theatres to promote the upcoming KISS UNMASKED Tour in 1980. |
|
Scenes have a different running order, making it seem like a completely different movie altogether. Plus there's extra scenes that weren't in the original US TV-version. Instead of the TV-soundtrack they use songs from the solo albums, which is very cool! To promote the upcoming german tour, the promo-clips for "I Was Made For Lovin' You" and "Sure Know Something" are edited in, also.
As the film was never released on video in germany, this version was filmed directly from the silver screen in a cinema - probably the best existing copy of the german version! |
